Q-factor equal to roadbike
The Q-factor of the ergometer is equal to the Q-factor of road bikes, enabling perfect training circumstances.
Extreme low start up load
The extreme low start-up load of 7 watts and the adjustability in small steps of 1 watt make this ergometer perfectly suitable for many different applications. The standard control unit shows multiple ergometry parameters and you can determine your specific default setting and start-up menu.
Accurate over a long period of time
The Lode ergometers are supplied with an electro-magnetic braking mechanism of Lanooy (eddy current). The biggest advantage of this braking system compared to a friction braking system is the absolute accuracy and the accuracy over time. Moreover, friction braking systems have more wearing parts.
Small adjustment steps
The workload of the Lode ergometers is adjustable in steps of only 1 watt. Depending on your wishes, the test operator or the test subject can adjust the workload. The steps of 1 watt are possible in the manual mode as well as within protocols.

Q - Where can I find more information on wingate testing

Q - In what range are the handlebars of the Corival and Excalibur adjustable?

The Corival handlebar is adjustable within 0-360 degrees.
The Excalibur Sport's handlebar is adjustable in both vertical (465- 855 mm) and horizontal (229- 600 mm) direction.

Q - What is Eccentric ergometry

During Eccentric or negative ergometry you have to resist against a workload produced by a motor instead of an electromagnet, see article prof. Folgering: Effects of positive and negative exercise on ventilatory CO2 sensitivity.

Q - Is it possible to control the Lode ergometers and treadmills with external equipment

Yes, you can find interface sheets for most common devices on the website at the "service" tab of this website. If your device is not present you can ask us to support you. In most cases we can quickly provide you with a solution.

Q - What is a torque factor?

The Torque factor is used to calculate braking Torque during Wingate sprinttest. Torque factor x body weight = braking Torque this is used in this test. Lode is using 0.7 as the default Torque factor for normal healthy test subjects. Athletes will need a higher Torque factor to get their optimal braking torque, women slightly lower, testsubjects with severe obesity, muscle atrophy, muscle dystrophy etc will need a lower Torque factor (see lt. Bar Or).

Q - Is it possible to request RPM and Load data through the RS232 port while cycling in Manual mode.

Yes you can request the actual pedalling speed and power when you are cycling in Manual, Analogue or Terminal mode.
The load will only be returned when the pedalling speed is 30 RPM or more. For technical details see the Lode RS232 protocol

Q - What is the Q factor of the Lode ergometers?

The Q factor of a bicycle ergometer is the distance from crank to crank. For the Excalibur the Q factor is simular to a racing bike meaning 147mm (+/- 3 mm).
The Q factor of the other ergometers is a little bit bigger (like a city bike), for the Corival this is 180 mm.
