Corival with eccentric ergometry option
General information
The eccentric Corival is an ergometer with a design like the Corival with a motor instead of the electromagnetical braking principle. The maximal eccentric workload is 200 watt. The eccentric ergometer has a safety protection but may not be used without supervision. Besides the eccentric ergometry, this ergometer can be used for normal ergometry as well.

Eccentric ergometry or “negative ergometry” is used to train severe pulmonary and cardiac patients. The motor is pushing the crank axle of the ergometer in the opposite direction. The test subject has to resist this workload to get the desired trainingeffect (see article “Effects of Positive and Negative Exercise on Ventilatory CO2 Sensitivity” of M.A.M. Hulschbosch, R.A. Binkhorst and H. Th. Folgering).
